Helsinki Region Environment delivers open data with Oskari

Helsinki Region Environment’s (HSY) Oskari map service was taken into production in fall 2015. You can view and download all open geospatial datasets by HSY rom the portal. One of the new improvements for Oskari was the creation of the “HSY download basket” (source code available, documentation coming up!)

”We needed a way to deliver the spatial data also to those who are not familiar with geospatial data,” tells Elina Ojanperä from HSY

The Mapservice makes the data delivery easy

HSY publishes as open data all kinds of data from population, living, constructions, land use to air quality. The GIS data are available in ETRS-GK25 (EPSG:3879) coordinate system and downloadable vector data is delivered in shp format. Only the raster data is not available for downloading at this point.

The datasets can be also found from HSY open data site as file format, but the map service makes the use more interactive and you can view the data before downloading. You can also utilize the data through interfaces.
